"Now More Than Ever" campaign takes to the Rainbow Parade stage in Vienna
On Saturday, July 3, 2010, the 15th annual Rainbow Parade took place in Vienna, host city of the XVIII International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2010) — and our intrepid consultants were there!
Both Anne-Caroline Duplat, who is organizing the March and Rally for Human Rights, and Leon Mar, who is coordinating the Human Rights Networking Zone, took to the stage to talk about "Now More Than Ever" campaign activities at AIDS 2010. (Check out the photos on our Facebook page!)
"Who here likes Annie Lennox?" asked Anne-Caroline to a thunderous response. "Well she's coming to Vienna to support HIV/AIDS and human rights, and the march and rally on Tuesday, July 20 is your chance to show your support and to hear Annie perform live. This is your chance to make a difference!"
"The world is coming to Vienna to act on HIV/AIDS and human rights, and we're counting on all of you to bring Vienna to world by visiting us in the Global Village at AIDS 2010," said Leon to the thousands gathered in Schwartzenbergplatz in downtown Vienna.
According to Associated Press, more than 100 000 people took part in the Rainbow Parade. The Viennese Pride Parade was inaugurated in 1996, and has one of the most spectacular routes down Vienna's historic Ringstrasse, ending at Schwartzenbergplatz.
More than 25 000 are expected to attend AIDS 2010, which runs July 18–23.
